What is PESO?

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) is a non-fee charging multi-employment service facility or entity established or accredited under Republic Act No. 8759 otherwise known as the PESO Act of 1999 as amended on RA 10691.

Since its inception, the PESO program continues to ensure the prompt, timely, and efficient delivery of core employment facilitation services and the provision of information on other DOLE employment programs.

PESO Core Programs

Labor Market Information

The labor market information describes the interaction between the supply of and demand for labor in the market. It presents and interprets how a labor market is functioning and identifies available labor resources employment opportunities and other related information such as wage rates, qualifications, employment conditions and etc.

Referral and Placement

One of the major roles of PESO is to guide and assist employers concerning their recruitment activities and this is being done through the contact of job fair, local recruitment activity or special recruitment activity and employers forum. Referral is a process of directing jobseekers to employers with vacancies matching their qualifications.

Career Advocacy and Employment Coaching

One of the programs being implemented by DOLE as an employment facilitation intervention service for the youth is to give them enough information that could guide in making the appropriate career choices.

Livelihood and Self-Employment Programs (NOT YET OPEN…)

The program pursues and gives attention to develop beneficiaries’ skills and capabilities toward self-employment undertakings which help them sustain and increase their family income in partnership with TESDA or Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

OFW Reintegration Program

Overseas Filipino Workers Reintegration Programs, in coordination with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), the PESO shall assist in providing re-integration assistance services to returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Employment Planning and Budgeting

The PESO shall conduct employment planning session, management, monitoring and budgeting initiatives to provide a basis for setting employment facilitation priorities, programs and services.

Youth Work Programs (NOT YET OPEN…)

PESO was tasked to coordinate and promote the adoption of enrolled youth work programs such as Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), Government Internship Program (GIP), Jobstart Program and the like pursuant to Executive Order no. 139 through Kabataan 2000.

Special Employment Program

The PESO also perform other functions analogous to the above including programs or activities developed by the DOLE to enhance provision of employment assistance to clients, particularly for special groups of disadvantaged workers such as Persons with disabilities (PWDs) and displaced workers. 0
