June 2, 2026 – Graduates of the Lantern-Making Skills Training Program, including beneficiaries from the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) sector, received lantern-making starter kits under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) during a ceremonial awarding held at the Mini Convention Center, Heroes Hall, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The activity was conducted through the partnership of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the City Government of San Fernando under the excellent leadership our dear City Mayor Hon. Vilma Balle Caluag as part of their continuing efforts to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities and promote inclusive economic development among vulnerable sectors of society.

A total of 20 trained beneficiaries successfully completed the lantern-making skills training, equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills needed to engage in the city’s renowned lantern industry. To help them start their own livelihood ventures, each graduate received a lantern-making starter kit containing essential tools and materials necessary for lantern production.

The awarding of lantern-making starter kits serves as a significant milestone for the beneficiaries as they embark on their livelihood journey, carrying forward San Fernando’s rich tradition of lantern-making while building a brighter and more sustainable future for themselves and their families.
