On June 12, 2025, at SM Telabastagan the epicenter of opportunity as it hosted an Independence Day Job Fair along with several employment-focused programs. These initiatives were successfully carried out through the collective efforts of the City Public Employment Services Office under the excellent leadership of Ms. Mary Ann C. Biliwang, Acting CPESO Manager, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 3 and Pampanga Field Office, led by Dir. Geraldine M. Panlilio and Chief LEO Ms. May Lynn C. Gozun, Department of Migrant Workers, SM Telabastagan Mall Manager Ms. Lana Erroba and SM Management Assistant Vice President-North Ms. Andrea M. Rodriguez.

The Annual Independence Day Job Fair, which welcomed a diverse group of employers, served as a strategic platform to combat unemployment and promote local workforce empowerment by expanding access to job opportunities for the Fernandino community. The program was able to solicit approximately 6,000 job vacancies from 33 different local and 2 overseas partner employers for which to be served to various job applicants, hoping to be hired on the spot. Complementing the job fair was the salary distribution to 1,000 TUPAD beneficiaries from various sectors of the city. This initiative was part of DOLEโ€™s emergency employment services, aims to support individuals from low-income and vulnerable groups by offering short-term, community-based work opportunities.

The Job Fair activity was made even more meaningful by the heartfelt messages from Director Panlilio, City Mayor Hon. Vilma Balle-Caluag and SM Management representatives, who uplifted and inspired the beneficiaries to take pride in their journey and to play an active role in nurturing a stronger, more compassionate, and resilient community.

The Independence Day Job Fair 2025 is more than just an employment eventโ€”it is a celebration of freedom through opportunity. Held in conjunction with the countryโ€™s commemoration of independence, the job fair underscores the deep connection between national pride and economic empowerment. This initiative provides a vital platform for job seekersโ€”especially those from marginalized, displaced, and low-income sectorsโ€”to access meaningful employment opportunities. By bringing together diverse employers and potential employees in one space, the fair helps bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, reducing unemployment and underemployment.

These undertakings reflect the unwavering support of Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag in advancing employment initiatives and ensuring the delivery of inclusive, accessible public services to every Fernandino.
