Youth Officials Take Over City Hall [ Tuesday, 23rd of September 2014 | 4 years ago ]

Some 32 young student leaders of the city will get the opportunity to work for their fellow Fernandinos as Mayor Edwin D. Santiago, together with the officials of the Rotary Club of San Fernando, opens the Youth Week celebration today.

The presentation of the youth officials was held during Monday’s flag raising ceremony at the City Hall. This was witnessed by Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, councilors Nelson Lingat, BJ Lagman, Harvey Quiwa, Angelica Hizon, city department heads, and members of the Rotary Club.

For five days from September 22 to 26, they will govern the city side by side with their counterpart in the city government. Also, they will be taken to office tours, observe the actual City Council sessions, briefing in parliamentary procedures, attendance to Rotary meetings, and local radio and television appearances.

“Sa loob ng 24 taon naging maganda ang resulta ng Youth Week celebration, malaki ang pasasalamat natin sa pamahalaang lungsod upang mahubog ang talent ng mga kabataan” said Conrado Garcia, founder of the city week celebration in 1989.

The participating high schools are from San Nicolas Integrated School, CSF West Integrated School, Nothville, High School, Harvardian Colleges, Our Lady of Fatima University, Saguin Integrated School, Don Honorio Technological State University, St. Vincent Quebiawan Integrated School, Nuestra Señora Integrated School, San Isidro Integrated School, Sindalan High School, University of the Assumption, Information & Communication Technological High School and San Lorenzo Ruiz Center of Studies & Schools.

The youth officials were selected based on written assessment, oral exam, panel interview and other criteria set by the Rotary Club.

“Respeto at pagtupad sa batas. Ito ang sukli natin sa ating mga pinuno para sa oportunidad na ibinigay nila sa atin” said Alra Bravo, Youth City Mayor.

They be our future leaders hence we are allowing them to take over and see the affairs of the city, this will make them responsible” said Mayor Santiago.
