CSF Names Natatanging Fernandina 2014 [ Wednesday, 10th of September 2014 | 3 years ago ]


In line with the Women’s Week celebration, Mayor Edwin D. Santiago gives recognition to the finalists of Natatanging Fernandina 2014, the women leaders of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The conferment was held at the Heroes Hall today [September 10, 2014]. It was attended by women organizations in the city, barangay officials, health workers, and other civic organizations.

“Binibigyan natin ng pagkilala ang mga kababaihang Fernandina na mayroong kontribusyon sa pag-unlad ng ating bayan at pinasasalamatan natin sila sa walang-sawa nilang suporta sa pamahalaan upang matulungan ang mga mamamayan” said Mayor Santiago.

The recipients of the top three awards are: Carmelita Gregorio of Barangay San Juan, third place; Maria Dizon Diwa of Barangay Del Pilar; and Marilou Canlas of Barangay San Jose, first place.
The other finalists are Elvira David, Elena Sangil, Alicia Guiao, Teresita Bungque, Erlinda Gonzales, Rafaelita Magayanes, Alicia Ignacio, Lourdes Ong, and Encarnacion Pamintuan.

“Ang pagbibigay natin ng parangal ay kaugnay din ng pagdiriwang sa ika- 140 kaarawan ng ating lokal na bayani na si Doña Nicolasa Dayrit y Panlilio” added the mayor.

The awardees also received cash prizes, grocery packs, trophies from the city government and descendants of the heroine who were also present to witness the program which include laying of wreath at the heroes park.

“Isa lang ito sa mga programa natin para sa mga kababaihan, dito sa atin [San Fernando] kabahagi ng pag-gogobyerno ang mga kababaihan, sila ay mahalagang sangkap ng tagumpay ng pamahalaan” said Santiago.

The city is one of the few LGUs which have two celebrations that give tribute to women, International Women’s Month every March and Women’s Week in September.

San Fernando, earlier, has also awarded capital assistance amounting to Php 205,000 to women organizations under its sustainable livelihood program.
