Present during the launching were San Fernando City Mayor Edwin D. Santiago, City Councilor Joselito Ocampo, Assistant Vice President Cristie S. Angeles of SMFI, representatives from HARBEST Agribusiness Corp., Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agriculture, SM Supermarket, SM Savemore and SM City San Fernando Downtown.

The 12 week training will be participated by over 120 farmers from different barangays of the city. The program aims to teach marginal farmers new technology on application of fertilizers, soil amendments, and the use of other water-soluble products through an irrigation system.

In his message, Mayor Santiago said that one way to empower farmers is by equipping new farming technology.

“Modern way of farming is used in order to improve both quality and productivity thus the city will continue to support this livelihood program.”

Angeles on her part convinced farmers to finish the module for they will be equipped with the precise and effective way of farming.

The training will also provide farmers knowledge on multi-crop farming and in identifying high-value crops that can adapt to identified farm areas where they can be planted.

The City Government of San Fernando in partnership with SM Foundation, Inc. (SMFI) launched 57th batch of Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmers Training at Barangay Del Rosario on Friday.
