2,412 Vacancies Open In San Fernando Job Fair [ Wednesday, 25th of September 2019 | 3 weeks ago ]

A total of 2,412 job positions were opened to Fernandinos and applicants from neighboring towns during the City Job Fair on September 21, 2019 at the SM City San Fernando Downtown.

More than 400 job seekers flocked in the job fair with 30 participating companies comprised of four overseas and 26 local companies.

This year’s job fair was made possible through the initiatives of the Local Government of San Fernando, through its City Employment and Services Division (CESD), in cooperation with the Provincial Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and SM City San Fernando Downtown.

Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago, together with Public Employment Services Office (PESO) Manager Donny Sayre, POEA Division Head Corazon Ortizo, and SM City San Fernando Downtown Assistant Manager Raquel Chua, led the formal opening of the fair.

Some of the companies who have participated are in the field of wholesale/retail, service, construction, manufacturing, community, real estate, transportation and financing.

The CESD reported that 105 applicants were hired on the spot.

During his welcome message, Santiago shared his experiences when he started as an employee.

He also encouraged the applicants to work hard for them to have a brighter future.

“Naniniwala ako na kapag nagtrabaho ka na, hindi ka lang dapat nagta-trabaho kung hindi dapat paghusayan mo na. Walang madaling trabaho. Minsan kailangan talagang dumaan muna sa mga pagsubok bago mo makuha ang tagumpay na iyong inaasam. It takes perseverance to achieve success,” said Santiago.

The city mayor furthered that the local government will remain steadfast in providing employment to Fernandinos as he believes that creating livelihood opportunities for everyone can make their lives comfortable.

“Kapag may trabaho ka, natutugunan mo ‘yung mga basic needs mo gaya ng pagkain, damit, tirahan at minsan higit pa dun ay iyong naibibigay sa iyong sarili dahil nabibili mo ang gusto mo at nakakatulong ka pa sa pamilya mo,” Santiago ended.
