CSF Joins ‘Sabayang 4 O’clock Habit Para Deng-Get Out’ [ Friday, 9th of August 2019 | 11 months ago ]
“Prevention is better than cure.”
Thus was the highlight of the City of San Fernando‘s participation in the nationwide “Sabayang 4 o’clock Habit para Deng-Get Out” on August 7, 2019 at Barangay San Jose.
The activity was under the program of Department of Health (DOH) which was made possible in the local government through the support of the City Health Office.
As stated by the DOH, “Sabayang 4 o’clock Habit para Deng-Get Out” is an activity which focuses on “search and destroy of mosquito breeding sites.”
Juliana Reyes, assistant regional director of DOH 3; Dr. Amelito Nicolas, designated medical officer of Pampanga; barangay officials; and, some public and private institutions attended the event.
In her opening remarks, Rural Health Physician and City Dengue Program Coordinator, Dr. Renely Tungol stressed the importance of public participation in battling dengue.
Meanwhile, DOH-3 Assistant Regional Director Reyes, lauded the local government of San Fernando for wholeheartedly supporting the advocacies of DOH.
She urged everyone to continuously practice the DOH’s advisory to suppress dengue in the community.
Also part of the program was the discussion of the 4 o’clock habit and 4S strategy which stands for “Search and destroy”, “Self-protection measures,” “Seek early consultation” and “Support fogging/spraying”.
Fogging and spraying, according to Regional Entomologist Jeffrey De Guzman, should only be conducted in hotspot areas where increase in cases is registered for two consecutive weeks to prevent an impending outbreak.
At exactly 4 o’clock in the afternoon, residents of the said barangay joined the nation in conducting “Sabayang 4 o’clock Habit para Deng-Get Out.”
Tthe City Government of San Fernando headed by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago is steadfast in its agenda “Malusog na Fernandino, Masiglang Pamumuhay ay Sigurado” as it supports and implements numerous health and wellness programs to ensure the welfare of the Fernandinos.
