CSF Hosts PHL Social Workers’ Day Celebration [ Tuesday, 9th of July 2019 | 2 weeks ago ]

The City of San Fernando hosted the gathering of some five hundred (500) social workers from Central Luzon and nearby towns and provinces on June 19, 2019 at Heroes Hall for the celebration of Philippine Social Workers’ Day.

Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago served as one of the speakers during the event, with his speech revolving around the major contributions of social welfare and development workers in creating a progressive community.

“Isa sa mga rason kung bakit progresibo ang isang lugar ay maayos ang pamamalakad ng social welfare and development office. Dahil ito yung ahensya na yung misyon, ay hubugin ang ating katauhan. Kapag buo ang katauhan ng mga bata at matanda, mula sa edukasyon hanggang sa moral values, magiging progresibo ang ating komunidad,” he said.

The secretary of Department of Social Welfare and Development Rolando Joselito Bautista also sent his message across, through Undersecretary Florita Villar. Bautista’s message was centered to the agency’s continuous support for the social workers in uplifting the lives of the society.

Highlight of the activity was the recognition of more than thirty (30) social workers who have served and contributed to the agency through “the delivery of social welfare and development services towards poverty alleviation in the country and upliftment of the quality of life of its people.”

Santiago, meanwhile, likewise left a message to the organizers of the event, ASEAN Social Work Consortium-Philippines, together with local social workers association, for choosing CSF to stage the said activity and said the city will always accommodate such significant events.

This year’s celebration of Social Workers’ Day, which was mainly aimed to honor the hard work and commitment of social workers, was themed, “Social Work Profession in the Philippines: Its Evolution and Resiliency through Changing Time.”
