Santiago Graces PPC Forum [ Tuesday, 9th of July 2019 | 2 weeks ago ]

Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago met with some leading journalists of Pampanga Press Club (PPC) on June 5, 2019 at Widus Hotel and Casino in Clark for the June edition of media forum, “Talk Wid Us,” jointly hosted by the PPC and Widus.

During the activity, Santiago presented his on-going programs and projects in the city and his plans for his third and last term, as he eyes for a sustainable development in the capital city.

This will be the second time Santiago attended a media forum after his successful win in the May midterm election, following his meeting with the members of Capampangan in Media, Inc. on May 24 where he also proudly explained and discussed the works of his administration.

Santiago highlighted one of the biggest projects to date of his administration- the Civic Center. This will house several buildings and offices, including the Command and Control Center which is considered to be the biggest public safety and crime prevention project of CSF.

He also mentioned the city’s plan to rehabilitate the Old Public Market, through the funding of the Office of the President under its Priority Funding in Fiscal Year 2019, the creation of Town Center, and the creation of quarry road to decongest the Mac Arthur Highway.

For the next three years, he also said the city will continue all its existing programs from giving Fernandinos a quality childhood and tertiary education up to the carrying out of good governance among his co-officials and employees.

“Education will still be our number one priority. We have Early Childhood Care and Development centers here. For the tertiary, we have City College of San Fernando na kasama sa annual budget natin for education. And of course, we want to retain yung culture ng good and participative governance,” he said.

Santiago also shared that CSF always meets the standards of a great public service as the city has been earning the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for four years now.

“May pamantayan na tayo sa pangongobyerno. Ito yung Seal of Good Local Governance kung saan nakapaloob ang iba’t-ibang core areas na magpapatunay sa husay at tapat na pamamahala. From financial management up to the preservation of culture and the arts, we meet the standards,” remarked Santiago.

Joining him in the discussion was Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PamCham) President Rene Romero who, on the other hand, vowed for their continuous efforts to boost business development in the city and in the province and for a stronger partnership between the public and private sector.
