CSF Empowers LGBT Through ‘fiesta Queen’ [ Tuesday, 9th of July 2019 | 2 weeks ago ]
A new edition of Miss Gay Fernandina Fiesta Queen was staged evening of May 27, 2019 at Heroes Hall as the City of San Fernando continues to empower the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.
The prestigious pageant has become a platform for the Fernandino gay individuals to raise awareness on issues such as discrimination and rejection.
This led Jerald Bondoc, a 22-year old stunner from Barangay Malpitic, to join the pageant and use the crown for his advocacy.
“If I’ll have the crown tonight, I will be great a instrument for the message of love, peace, respect, and most especially, acceptance,” said the newly-crowned fiesta queen to the spectators.
Bondoc also vowed to be one with the city government in its gender equality-related programs, remarking that this was his way of becoming a vital part of the society.
Meanwhile, four other queens were crowned alongside Bondoc. They were Arvie Culala of Sta. Lucia (first runner-up), Robin James Peña of San Nicolas (second runner-up), Elmer Gopez of Bulaon (third runner-up), and Louie Lagman of Del Pilar (fourth runner-up).
These new queens were rated according to their beauty, wit, and spontaneity. The queens also showcased their talents and ramp skills wearing their casual attires, swimsuits, and evening gowns.
For his part, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago said that apart from the city’s activities, there are alternative ways to show support to the LGBT community.
“Bilang Fernandinos, marami pa tayong magagawa. Respeto at understanding lang sa community. Maliban sa mga events na ito, we are trying our best to erase the culture of discrimination sa siyudad—that is the most important part,” Santiago said.
Aside from the fiesta queen, the city also stages annually its LGBT June Pride Month where several activities such as rainbow pride march, events management training, pampering services, and seminars on discrimination are held.
This year’s Miss Gay Fernandino Fiesta Queen was chaired by Agnes Romero and organized by Portfolio Events Solution.
