Fernandino ESAP Scholars Now ‘work-ready’ [ Wednesday, 13th of March 2019 | 3 months ago ]
Educational Scholarship Assistance Program (ESAP) beneficiaries of the City Government of San Fernando who’ll graduate from college this year are now armed with a “work-ready” outlook.
This, after the city government, in partnership with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), held a run of Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) on March 7, 2019 at Heroes Hall.
The graduating students were given insights on Basic Labor Standards by the DOLE while the city’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) shared topics on job hunting and job interview tips and the services that the office offers.
The PESO mentioned that LEGS is a brainchild of DOLE, which seeks to orient the future workers about the realities and challenges of the real working world.
In his message, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago reminded the participants to continue learning. “Learning does not stop in the four corners of a classroom. It is a continuous process. Kapag naka-graduate na kayo at may trabaho na, mag-aral pa rin kayo. Pag-aralan ninyo kung paano umasenso at maging matagumpay,” Santiago said.
As scholars of the city, he thanked the participants for being an inspiration to others who wish to pursue education despite some circumstances.
“Nagpapasalamat kami sa inyo dahil isinakatuparan ninyo yung pangarap namin na makapagtapos kayo. Isa kayong inspirasyon sa ibang kabataan na kahit may kahirapan sa buhay, kayo ay nagtiyaga na makatapos,” he added.
The LEGS program of the city started in February in different colleges and universities in the city and it is set to be staged in other institutions in the coming weeks.
