Fernandinas To Lead Action Toward Clean Household Water [ Wednesday, 13th of March 2019 | 3 months ago ]
The City of San Fernando Water District (CSFWD) and PrimeWater San Fernando have expressed support to the city government’s actions in women empowerment, as they tapped Fernandinas to lead in their recent project.
Pushing for adequate and good quality water, the water district and PrimeWater awarded hand water pumps to some Fernandina women’s groups.
The said equipment will be utilized by several households in this capital city. The ceremonial turnover of the equipment was held on March 7, 2019 at CSFWD compound, in celebration of its 42nd anniversary and Women’s Month.
Engr. Ferdinand Caylao, CSFWD Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that women play a big role in protecting their family members’ health through adequate water consumption.
“Yung mga women’s groups yung nai-tap natin kasi alam nila yung lebel ng pangangailangan ng bawat pamilya sa malinis na tubig, na magagamit nila sa pang araw-araw,” said Caylao.
Caylao added that aside from the awarding of pumps, the installation, maintenance, and information dissemination to the family-beneficiaries about clean water will be performed by the water district, together with their partners.
Present during the ceremonial turnover of the pumps were Produktibong Kababaihan ng Barangay Magliman, Aktibong Kababaihan ng Barangay Dela Paz Norte, Northville San Fernando Women’s Organization, Kapit-bisig ng mga Kababaihan ng Barangay Calulut, and Samahan ng mga Kababaihan ng Barangay Bulaon.
Amy Catacutan, city’s Gender and Development focal person, expressed her gratitude to the benefactors, on behalf of the women’s groups, for the project.
“Malaking tulong yung proyekto na ito dahil ang mga kababaihan usually ang ang nag-e-ensure sa safety ng kanilang pamilya, lalo na sa paggamit ng tubig. Kaya nagpapasalamat tayo sa water district at PrimeWater para dito,” Catacutan said.
Meanwhile, Caylao also mentioned that within the next few months, more water pumps will be installed in the barangays as they target to cover all 35 villages in the city.
Aside from the ceremonial turnover, the CSFWD also unveiled their newly-painted concrete water tank and presented their Strategy Road Map for the next 9 years.
