Cycling Caravan, CSFP Knights Send-Off Staged At Kaganapan 2019 [ Wednesday, 13th of March 2019 | 1 week ago ]

In celebration of its 18th Cityhood Anniversary, San Fernando held annual Padyak para sa Kalusugan at Kalikasan and Send-Off program of the CSFP Knights on February 2, 2019, respectively.

More than a thousand cyclists and cycling associations from the city and nearby towns rode their ways towards good health and environmental protection during the Padyak para sa Kalusugan at Kalikasan.

With their bicycles, these cyclists completed a total distance of 45 kilometers, traversing major highways and thoroughfares in the city, starting at City Hall and finishing at Heroes Hall.

In his opening message, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago extended his gratitude to all the cyclists and cycling associations for their participation and vowed to add bike lanes around the city.

“Salamat sa paglahok sa cycling caravan na ito na isang paraan upang ikampanya natin ang kahalagahan ng pagiging malusog at pagiging mapagmahal sa kalikasan. We look forward to the construction of more bike lanes in the city, para maisulong pa natin ang pagbibisikleta,” said Santiago.

Meanwhile, a Send-Off Program of more than 200 member-athletes of CSFP Knights to the 2019 Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association Meet (CLRAA) was also staged on the same day.

The CSFP Knights are composed of Fernandino elementary pupils and secondary student athletes, who currently represent the city in the CLRAA in Iba, Zambales, to different sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Arnis, Swimming, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Dance Sports, and the like.

Alphonso Trece Academia, City Sports Consultant, remarked that these young athletes underwent a longer and more intense training.

“For this edition of CLRAA, hindi lang tayo nag-dwell sa 12 days na intensive training kundi we underwent 3-6 months of training. With these, we are hoping na mas tumaas pa yung ranking natin,” expressed Academia.

It can be recalled that in the previous year, CSFP Knights made promising performances, making the city land at 8th place, out of 20 divisions in the region. The city was also able to send 22 athletes to the Palarong Pambansa.
