CSF Holds TOFA 2019 [ Wednesday, 13th of March 2019 | 3 months ago ]

Following a three-year break, the City Government of San Fernando once again held The Outstanding Fernandino Awards (TOFA), conferring the prestigious recognition to ten (10) individuals of different fields.

TOFA, the highest award ever given by CSF, through its City Tourism Office, and TOFA Executive Committee, started recognizing Fernandinos’ exemplary lives and works, which inspired and helped the community, in 2002, and has been conferred to more than a hundred individuals.

For its 2019 edition, the nominations were opened as early as February of the previous year.

The awardees include Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde in the field of Military and Law Enforcement. P/CSupt. Joel Coronel received the award, in behalf of Albayalde.

Nelson Castro, one of the city’s most respected businessmen, also joined this year’s list, under the Business field, recognizing his efforts to boost the city’s economic growth and provide employment to Fernandinos.

In the field of Education, the recipient was Rhodora Angela Ferrer, a passionate educator who championed the educational system in the Philippines and abroad.

ABC’s for Global Health founder, Dr. Julieta Gabiola, on the other hand, received this year’s TOFA in the field of Medicine. Gabiola has been promoting healthy lifestyles to Filipinos and Americans.

A third generation Kalesa maker, Benjamin Lingad also joined the roster of awardees for this year, acknowledging his determination to sustain the deep-rooted mode of transportation, making him earn the TOFA for Traditional Crafts field.

A “Filipino pioneer in technical invention,” who invented the iconic Vitamin Beer, Dr. Virgilio Malang meanwhile received this year’s award in the field of Science and Technology.

An award-winning visual artist Rafael Maniago was also an awardee in the field of Culture and Arts who has created thousands of paintings, showing San Fernando’s everyday scenes.

A man who continuously works for the unity of the City of San Fernando’s Federation of Homeowners Association (FEDHOA), Walter Ocampo is meanwhile this year’s awardee in the field of Community Service

In the field of Religious Service, Elizabeth Praxedes Pusung became the recipient, a woman who is an instrument for families and youth towards spiritual guidance.

Completing the list is Youth Service field’s Dara Mae Tuazon, the youngest of all the awardees and a lady whose works include educating and molding young children to become values-centered.


Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago and TOFA Executive Committee 2019 Chairperson Capt. Conrado Pacla led the awarding of trophies to these great individuals.
