CSF Deploys “Kawal Ng Kalikasan” [ Tuesday, 17th of June 2014 | 3 years ago ]
In line with this, the San Fernando Environment and Natural Resources Office headed by newly-installed Engr. Anele Culala held a symposium on environmental laws and enforcement at the Heroes Hall on June 16. This was attended by almost 100 volunteers coming from the barangay level, civic organizations, personnel from PNP, among others.
“We will train these volunteers to become Kawal ng kalikasan or Soldiers of the Environment, they will be deputized and given the authority to uphold city’s ordinances on environment” said Culala.
She disclosed that the corps of soldiers will assist in the implementation of the R.A. 9003 or commonly known as the ecological solid waste management act of 2000.
Mayor Edwin D. Santiago said that this project will boost environmental programs because of the participation of the city’s 35 barangays
“Ang lahat ng programa, lalo na ang mga pang-kalikasan, ay magiging epektibo kung uumpisahan sa ating mga barangay” said Santiago.
The mayor also bared his dream of making the component city as the most livable community by embracing both development and environmental protection at the same time.
“Kasabay ng progreso at kaunlaran, magpapatupad tayo ng mga programa na magpapanatili sa ganda ng ating kaliksan” he said.
