2,055 College Students Receive Scholarship Grants [ Tuesday, 9th of October 2018 | 8 months ago ]
This was Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago’s gentle reminder to the 2,055 college students in the City of San Fernando who were beneficiaries of the Educational Scholarship Assistance Program (ESAP) during the ‘Awarding of Scholarship Grants and Financial Assistance for College Students’ on October 6-7, 2018 at the Mini Convention Center, Heroes Hall.
This year, the local government has 1,110 new set of scholars and 945 old scholars coming from the city’s thirty-five (35) barangays.
The cash grant depends on what category the student belongs depending on his or her general average. Full merit scholars receive 15,000 every semester, has 90 and above average and enrolled in courses preferred by the city government such as criminology, environmental science, social work, and midwifery.
Half-merit scholars receive 7,500 every semester, must maintain an average of 85-89 and also enrolled in preferred courses of the city.
Meanwhile, student who has 80% general weighted average receive 5,000 every semester.
In an interview, John Peter Andrei Quiambao, a two-year full merit scholar studying in Our Lady of Fatima University, expressed his gratitude to the Local Government of San Fernando for having this program, which is truly beneficial to their education expenses.
During his speech, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago lauded the efforts of the scholars and the unconditional love and support of the parents to their children. He believes that ‘education is the key to for the better future’ but unfortunately not everyone can afford it, this is why the Local Government puts education as the top priority.
Meanwhile, 3rd District Representative Cong. Aurelio ‘Dong’ Gonzales also graced the awarding ceremony.
