CSF Sets Alay Lakad 2018 In November [ Tuesday, 4th of September 2018 | 11 months ago ]
The City Government of San Fernando has scheduled this year’s Alay Lakad “Walk for a cause” on November 23 with the theme “Abe-abe lumakad para king Panyulung da reng Kayanakan.”
It will start at 6:00 a.m. with four assembly points namely Petron Gas Station at Tagulod, Brgy. Del Pilar; MVP Building at intersection; Pampanga Capitol Grounds; and V. Tiomico Extension.
Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago said the event is held annually in partnership with the Alay Lakad Foundation to provide educational assistance to qualified Fernandino out-of-school youth and give technical support to the self-employed and other marginalized individuals.
This year, the committee seeks to raise P500,000 funds to support the 90 sholars who are currently enrolled in different schools and universities in the province.
The city mayor committed to provide the same amount as the city government’s counterpart to help finance more beneficiaries.
“Education is a lifelong process at ito ang nagsisilbing matibay na pundasyon ng mga kabataan sa pag-abot ng kanilang mga pangarap. Ito ay isang bagay na hindi kailanman mawawala sa kanila at siya ring bubuo sa kanilang pagkatao,” Mayor EdSa stressed.
Meanwhile, Alay Lakad 2018 Chairperson Engr. Felix Paras noted that aside from the usual walk, an “Alay Lakad Hymn” composition contest will also be opened to all aspiring students.
“On the event proper, special awards will also be given to the biggest and most colorful delegations as well as to the oldest participant. The committee will then choose Ms. Alay Lakad 2018 from the muses of participating schools or agencies,” he added.
