CSF Observes “Araw Ng Watawat” [ Thursday, 29th of May 2014 | 3 years ago ]

The City of San Fernando started its observance of National Flag Day on May 28 with a program that was attended by a cross-section of Fernandino society including local government officials, and private sector representatives.

In his speech, Mayor Edwin D. Santiago highlighted the importance of barangay-based governance as a manifestation of “the spirit of heroism which was once showed by our forefathers during the Battle of Alapan in Cavite.”

“We are pouring all the efforts of our administration, through social programs and services, on the barangay level so that Fernandinos will immediately feel the presence of the city government,” said Mayor EdSa.

Before leading the ceremonial turnover of the flag to Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Jim Jimenez, the mayor also encouraged Fernandinos, especially those in the private sector, to be involved with his administration. Their participation in governance is an indication of an efficient and effective government.

As part of the program, the Salute to the Flag was rendered by Bro. Jocel Dimalanta of Tiburcio Hilario Memorial Lodge 394.

Flags were also symbolically distributed to barangay and school officials by Mayor EdSa, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Pyestang Fernandino 2014 Chairman Felix Paras, and National Flag Day Chairperson and City Councilot Nelson Lingat.

Mayor EdSa has encouraged every Fernandino to display the Philippine flag in all offices and private residences as a sign of unity with the nation in this celebration that will culminate on Philippine Independence Day on June 12.

The National Flag Day Kickoff Program is part of the activities that the Fiesta Executive Committee composed of private citizens and city hall officials, has lined up for Pyestang Fernandino 2014.
