Mayor EdSa Calls Taxpayers As Partners In Development [ Friday, 10th of August 2018 | 7 months ago ]

Thus, said Mayor Edwin "EdSa" Santiago during the 4th Stakeholder's Day and Recognition of Top Taxpayers on Thursday stressing that investors in the city are the local government's partners in development. Santiago also led the recognition of top taxpayers for the year 2017. He was joined by Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Councilors Angie Hizon and BJ Lagman, City Administrator Engr. Fernando Limbitco, City Treasurer Mary Ann Bautista and other concerned departments heads. Top Business taxpayers were Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corp. Inc. for manufacturers category; United Laboratories, Inc. for wholesaler, dealer, and distributor category; Super Value Inc. (SM Supermarket - SM City Pampanga) for retailers category; Manila North Tollways Corporation for contractors and independent contractors category; SM Prime Holdings, Inc. for services category; and BPI Family Bank- San Agustin Branch for banking and financial institutions category. Different business owners who ranked first in their respective categories were also awarded. These were Josefina Siy, owner of A.A. Saver's Mart, for single proprietorship category; Imelda Sarmiento, owner of IFS store, for New Public Market category and Magdalena Siy, owner of Lena's Store, for Old Public Market category. 2017's Top Real Property Taxpayer is San Miguel Brewery Inc., Top Franchise Taxpayer is San Fernando Electric Light & Power Company (SFELAPCO), Top Amusement Taxpayer is SM Prime Holdings, Inc., Top Barangay Community Tax Collector is Telabastagan and the Barangay with high Real Property Tax Collection is Quebiawan. Twelve individuals were cited for their efforts towards the success of various activities in the city. These include Mayor EdSa, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin and partners from Regional Offices and private sector. During the program, BIR Revenue Region No. 4 Director Atty. Jethro Sabariaga, who served as the Guest Speaker, gave a detailed update on the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law. Sabariaga stressed the country's need for a tax policy reform due to a deficient tax system citing that TRAIN law envisions to reduce poverty rate and increase Gross National Income in the coming years.
