CYCLING FOR COINS [ Monday, 26th of May 2014 | 3 years ago ]
A total of 671 cyclists registered for the 35-kilometer event to help the city alleviate the shortage of coins.
The bike for a cause, as part of Pyestang Fernandino 2014, was graced by Mayor Edwin D. Santiago who highlighted in his speech the city’s continuous plans for cyclists.
“We have always wanted to be the most bicycle-friendly city. As the mayor, I yearn for the security of all cyclists within the city and so the city government will be providing bicycle lanes starting this June,” he said.
The registration fee of P150 per participant was paid in one-peso coins and less, as the activity was also promoted as Cycling for Charity and Coin Re-circulation Program.
The bike run began at the BSP San Fernando Branch in Sindalan and ended up at Robinsons Starmills, Pampanga where cycling caravan chairperson Engr. Ferdinand Caylao turned over the certificates of participation to the bikers and cyclists’ association members.
On hand to render full support to the caravan were Pyestang Fernandino 2014 Chairperson Felix Paras and the BSP staff led by Deputy Director Atty. Tomas Cariño.
