CSF Recognizes Outstanding Fernandino Farmers [ Wednesday, 30th of May 2018 | 3 weeks ago ]

"Tatlong beses sa isang araw kung tayo ay kumain, kaya naman nararapat na pasalamatan at bigyan ng pagkilala ang ating mga magigiting na magsasaka na walang sawang nag-aani upang mabigyan tayo ng masustansyang pagkain sa araw-araw," said Mayor Edwin 'EdSa' Santiago during the Awarding of 'Pinaka' Winners and Outstanding Farmers on May 18 at the City Nursery Demonstration Farm, Brgy Lara.

In culmination of the celebration of Farmer’s Week, the Local Government of San Fernando through its City Agriculture and Veterinary Office recognized some 12 Fernandino farmers for their outstanding performance and contribution in achieving sustainable farming. In her opening remarks, City Agriculturist Cristina Sangumay said the aim of the activity is to laud and encourage farmers to improve their skills and knowledge in farming by using new techniques in farming methods to ensure the food security for the community. "Kinikilala natin ang mga magsasaka na may magaganda at kahanga-hangang taktika sa pagtatanim, dahil ang wastong pagsasaka ang siyang paraan upang umusbong ang agrikultura dito sa ating Syudad, kaya naman hinihikayat ko kayong lahat na gawin ang inyong makakaya at humanap pa ng ibang pamamaraan upang mas lumago pa ang inyong mga ani," Sangumay said. The winners for the Outstanding Farmers were Edgar Gonzales (Outstanding Rice Producer), Eduardo Sinamban (Outstanding Corn Producer), Francisco Tancio (Outstanding HVCC producer), Romeo Quizon (Outstanding Fisher Folk) and Jesus David (Outstanding Livestock Raiser).
