Peace Covenant Signing Among Aspiring Barangay Chairmen In CSF Takes Place [ Thursday, 3rd of May 2018 | 2 months ago ]


In line with the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections on May 14, 2018, the signing of Peace Covenant among the candidates for Barangay Chairman from different villages in the City of San Fernando took place on Wednesday at the City Hall Atrium.

Sixty-five (65) out of eighty-seven (87) candidates who qualified to run as Barangay Captain from 35 villages graced the Peace Covenant Signing which was spearheaded by the City Government of San Fernando, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Commission on Elections (COMELEC). According to Irene Bacani, City of San Fernando DILG Director, the main purpose of the activity was to promote peaceful and friendly elections among these aspiring barangay leaders. Mayor Edwin "EdSa" Santiago likewise hopes for harmonious and clean polls on May 14. "Despite tough competitions, the whole city is hoping that camaraderie among the candidates will still prevail as it makes a big impact in achieving harmony and transparency during the campaign period and the poll itself," he said in an interview. Santiago furthered that he also hopes for winning candidates to establish programs and projects that will help the city achieve its vision. Meanwhile, the rules and guidelines on creating campaign advertisements and materials were discussed by COMELEC Officer Atty. June Guiao as the campaign period will begin on May 4 until May 12. The Peace Covenant Signing was also witnessed by City Administrator OIC Engr. Michael Quizon, Jr., San Fernando Chief of Police PSupt. Roland Agohob, and CSFP Values Formation Council Chairman Ptr. Reland Francisco.
