Mayor EdSa Calls To Resuscitate Paskuhan Village [ Thursday, 22nd of March 2018 | 1 year ago ]

The City Government of San Fernando headed by Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa' Santiago together with Pampanga 3rd District Representative Aurelio ‘Dong' Gonzales Jr. called to revive the Paskuhan Village as a cultural heritage and property of public domain during the press conference on the movement of Pampanga in re-claiming the Paskuhan Village held on March 21 at Levi Panlilio Conference.

The Paskuhan Village or known as the Philippine Christmas Village or Hilaga in City of San Fernando was established in 1989 as a cultural heritage. This was owned and operated by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA). In May 4, 2015 Paskuhan Village was purchased by the Premier Central Inc. in the amount of P939,656,848 from the government through the TIEZA. By this, the provincial government and Local Government of San Fernando sue the Premier Central, Inc and TIEZA for violating the regulations, terms and conditions of the local government, considering Paskuhan Village is a public domain and the Local Government Unit has the right of refusal. Before the press conference, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa' Santiago and Pampanga 3rd District Representative Aurelio ‘Dong' Gonzales Jr. together with City Legal Officer Atty. Atlee Viray, Asst. Solicitor General Justice Joseph Guevarra and Associate Solicitor General Atty. Eric Lavadia from Office of the Solicitor General respectively, filed a complaint for the Rescission of the Sale between TIEZA and Premier Central Inc. at the Regional Trial Court. In his statement, Congressman Aurelio ‘Dong' Gonzales was certain that the case will be resolved and if happens, the provincial government is much willing to extend its support to the Local Government of San Fernando to continue the operation of Paskuhan Village as a cultural heritage and lantern village to showcase the Fernandino crafts. "Ito ay nawala, ngunit ating babawiin kaya naman pag ito ay bumalik sa atin tayo'y magkakaroon ng Paskuhan 2020 kung saan sisiguraduhin nating mabubuhay ulit ito at magiging sentro ng pasyalan ang Paskuhan Village dito sa Syudad San Fernando, at ang lahat ng ito ay ating mapagtatagumpayan sa pakikipagtulungan at suporta ni Mayor Edsa," Gonzales said. For his part, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa' Santiago expressed his gratitude to the Congress of the Philippines through the initiative of Congressman Dong Gonzales for his support to the Local Government of San Fernando and for his willingness to fight for the right to recover the Paskuhan Village. "Ginawa natin ang lahat ng hakbang upang mapasa-atin muli ang ating lantern village kaya naman hindi natin sasayangin ang pagkakataon kapag ito ay makuha natin ulit, sisikapin ng Syudad San Fernando na mabigyan ng mahusay at maayos na operation system ang Paskuhan. Let us recover and keep our heritage," Santiago said.
