Mayor Edwin "EdSa" Santiago was recently invited for athree-day trip to Japan to meet some local officials in an aim to strengthen economic ties between the City of San Fernando and Japan, particularly Kikugawa City.

Nagustuhan niya ang syudad natin kung kaya't inimbitahan nila ako doon," he said. Santiago furthered that the officials want to partner with San Fernando in terms of technology advancement, provision of technical assistance, and modernization of agriculture considering that Kikugawa is known for the production of green tea. Some officials from Japan are also expected to visit San Fernando in 2019 to learn more about the city's best practices in doing business thus attract Japanese and other foreign investments.
