Fernandino Student Athletes Top In CLRAA 2018 [ Tuesday, 6th of March 2018 | 4 months ago ]


The City Government of San Fernando headed by Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa' Santiago welcomed and congratulated the student athletes after bagging 54 medals in various sports activities in Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) Meet during Monday's flag raising ceremony.

The annual regional tournament was held on February 26 to March 2 at Malolos, Bulacan that aims to strengthen discipline, sportsmanship and camaraderie among student athletes. City Schools Division Education Program Supervisor in charge of Sports Felino Sawal said that 7 elementary and 8 secondary both public and private schools in the City of San Fernando participated in this year's tournament. "Out of 20 school divisions in Region 3, nasa ika-walong pwesto ang Syudad San Fernando, at buong galak nating ipinagmamalaki na first time manalo ng Syudad San Fernando sa athletics sports at mag-overall sa Basketball. Hindi rin tayo naalis sa mga dati pa nating napapanalunang sports activities at ang lahat ng ito ay aming nagawa dahil na rin sa tulong at suporta ng ating lokal na pamahalaan," Sawal said. Sawal furthered that the City of San Fernando garnered 16 gold, 15 silver and 23 bronze medals. All gold medalist in CLRAA 2018 will compete in Palarong Pambansa to be held in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. For his part, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa' Santiago lauded thestudent athletes and their coaches for putting their efforts to this activity. He also encouraged the youth to engage themselves in different sports programs and activities so that they may showcase their skills and abilities in the field of sports. "Hinahangaan ko ang mga kabataang ito, dahil sa kanilang murang edad pa lamang ay ipinapamalas na nila ang kanilang angking kagalingan. Malay natin darating ang panahon na manggagaling dito sa Syudad San Fernando ang susunod na sikat na manlalaro hindi lamang sa Pilipinas kundi sa buong mundo," Santiago said.
