GK Fair For Yolanda Victims [ Tuesday, 15th of April 2014 | 4 years ago ]

A gathering of nation-loving citizens was held here by the Gawad Kalinga (GK) organization at the HILAGA (formerly Paskuhan Village) last March 28-29.

Dubbed as “Bayanihan Festival, isang Pagtitipon ng mga Bayani Para sa mga Biktima ng Bagyong Yolanda,” the activity aimed to recruit members and raise funds for the benefit of Yolanda victims.

As host, this city led the event and invited participants from all over Central Luzon to join and celebrate brotherhood and camaraderie as a means to help fellow Filipinos in Southern Philippines.

In his opening speech, Mayor Santiago said, “ As we all know, Gawad Kalinga is not only respected locally but internationally because of its commitment in making the lives of people more dignified. It is for this reason that I take pride in including our city in this endeavor of rebuilding lives especially of those who were devastated by the onslaught of typhoon Yolanda.”

Activities during the day included a GK Youth Forum, ligligan parul, musical concert with Musikerong Kapampangan and other artists, a Run for a Cause, PIA caravan, livelihood seminars, Green Living, a Bingo Social, a trade fair and a food festival.

Present during affair were GK Founding Chairman Tony Meloto, Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and Minalin Mayor Edgardo Flores.
