CSF Recognizes Eco-friendly Schools And Environmental Establishments [ Tuesday, 5th of December 2017 | 1 week ago ]


In line with the celebration of National Environmental Awareness and Clean Air Month, the City Government of San Fernando through its City Environment and Natural Resources Office conducted a Search for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools and Environment- Friendly Establishments on November 24 at the Heroes Hall.

Dubbed "PagkalingasaKalikasan at Kapaligiran, Kaligtasan ng Buhay ay Makakamtan," the said contest aims to recognize schools and establishments who has best practices in various environmental programs.

CENR Officer Engr. Anele David said the activity also seeks to encourage all academic institutions and establishments to actively participate on environmental issues and campaigns of the city.

"Kahitsaganitongpamamaraan man lang ay mahikayatnatinangmgaFernandinosnamakiisa at makialampatungkolsakalikasan ng saganoon ay makapagbigay din sila ng kontribusyonupangmapanatilingmaayos at masiglaangatingkapaligiran," David said.
In an interview, Mayor Edwin "EdSa" Santiago stressed the importance of environmental awareness. He believes that even in our own simple ways, we can show love and care on our nature to achieve a healthy environment.

"Napakainam na ang mga paaralan at establisimyento ditto sa Syudad San Fernando ay nakikiisa sa mga layunin ng ating syudad patungkol sa pagpapanatili sa kaayusan ng ating kapaligiran, nasiyangdaan din sa pagkakaroon ng maayos at maunlad na syudad," Santiago said.

The winners for the Search for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools were Nuestra Senora Del Pilar Integrated School (Elemntary category) followed by Pampanga High School (High School category) and St. Scholastica's Academy (Private School category).

Special awards were also given to City of San Fernando West Integrated School for having the best practices in Strict Canteen Policy. YES-O Adviser Mr. Walbert Rizado of Malino Integrated School received Faculty Support Award. Bulaon Elementary School and San Juan South Elementary School received the Best practice in Gulayan saPaaralan.

Best Practice for Eco Bricks (Residual Waste Diversion) was given to Dela Paz Sur Elementary School. Under the student support, meanwhile Del Rosario Elementary School was hailed as the Best Practice in Student Volunteers (Feeding Program). The Active Participation in City Government Programs Award were given to Del Carmen Integrated School and San Vicente Quebiawan Integrated School.

For the Search for Environment- Friendly Establishments, the champions for different categories were University of the Assumption (School Category),Mother Teresa of Calcutta Medical Center (Hospital Category), Pampanga Greenbuck Corp. Bliss Hotel (Hotel Category) and Willimson, Inc. WalterMart (Mall Category).

While Jollibee Foods Corp.-Dolores Intersectionand WC & L GROUP Inc. (Mang Inasal) were awarded as the Model Food Establishment. For the Food Manufacturing Category- Small Scale, MOR Enterprise was hailed as champion. Pepsi Cola Products Philippines, Inc. and San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corp San Fernando Beverage Packaging Plant were awarded as the Model Food Manufacturing Establishment- Large Scale.

For the Non- Food Manufacturing Category, Petron Gasul San Fernando Depot was awarded as champion. Best Commercial Establishment was given to Toyota San Fernando, Pampanga Inc.
Special citations were also given to St. Scholastica's Academy and Robinsons Land Corporation (Robinsons Starmills) as the Best Practice on Energy Conservation. Best Practice on Green Building was given to Best Western Bendix Hotel. Jollibee Foods Corp-Dolores Intersection and WC & L Food Enterprise (Mang Inasal) were hailed as the Most Improved Business on Solid Waste Management.
