CSF Promotes Adolescent Health Through Film Fest [ Friday, 1st of December 2017 | 2 weeks ago ]


High school students from four public schools in the City of San Fernando competed in the first Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) Film Festival with the theme "Post Millennial Filipinos: Renewed Hopes vs Risk: Catering the issues and concerns of the youth today."

High school students from four public schools in the City of San Fernando competed in the first Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) Film Festival with the theme "Post Millennial Filipinos: Renewed Hopes vs Risk: Catering the issues and concerns of the youth today."

This was organized by the City Government of San Fernando, through its City Health Office, in partnership with the Commission on Population and Department of Health in an aim to promote awareness on the present and perennial population concerns among the youth.

The entries "Pitong Mukha" by San Isidro Integrated School, "Pinid" by Nuestra Senora Del Pilar Integrated School, "Late" by Magliman Integrated School and "May Gatas pa sa Labi" by Sindalan High School were opened for public viewing during the awarding ceremony held November 29 at the Amphitheater in Heroes Hall.

In an interview, Mayor Edwin "EdSa" Santiago said that aside from culminating the skills and talents of the students, the activity also helps them become aware of the government's programs towards the improvement and promotion of the total well-being of young Filipinos.

"Malaki kasi ang impact ng media sa mga kabataan ngayon kaya ang mga pelikulang ito ang magsisilbing tulay upang maipaabot sa kanila ang kampanya upang sila'y maging responsible sa kanilang mga kilos habang nagbibinata o nagdadalaga," he added.

For his part, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin said the youth are instruments of change in their respective communities stressing: "Ang kabataan ay dapat pag-asa ng bayan ngayon, hindi bukas kundi ngayon na."

Meanwhile, the overall champion for Best Film was "Pitong Mukha" of San Isidro Integrated School. The runners up were as follows "May Gatas Pa sa Labi" of Sindalan High School (1st place); "Late" of Magliman Integrated School (2nd place); and "Pinid" of Nuestra Senora Del Pilar Integrated School (3rd place).

Major awards were also given to Henry Yumul of San Isidro Integrated School as Best Actor; Cristine Mae Pagcu of Magliman Integrated School as Best Actress; Patrick Santos of San Isidro Integrated School as Best Supporting Actor, Joan David of Magliman Integrated School as Best Supporting Actress.

Best Director is Jhanyn Buizon, Best Poster: is "Late," Best Trailer is "Pinid," Best Musical Scoring is "May Gatas pa sa Labi," Best Cinematography is "Pitong Mukha," Best Short Film is "May Gatas pa sa Labi," Best Editing is "Pitong Mukha," San Isidro Integrated School and Best Production Design is "May Gatas pa sa Labi."

For Special Citation in Original Song Composition, Pagbabago by Vincent Kyle Quintos from Magliman Integrated School and May Gatas pa sa Labi by Rancel Jay Tajeada from Sindalan High School got the title.

Lorelie Alarcon from Magliman Integrated School, Mars Cabrera from Sindalan High School and Eibert Sarmiento from San Isidro Integrated School won the Best Citation Outstanding Performance by an Actress/Actor award.
