Cases Of Late Registration In CSF Decrease [ Friday, 28th of July 2017 | 5 months ago ]

The cases of late registration of birth, death and marriage certificates in the City of San Fernando have decreased for the last five years.

This was announced by City Civil Registrar Rimando Umali during the 4th CSFP Convention of Partners in Civil Registration held July 28 at the Heroes Hall.

"Mula po sa 25% late registration noong 2013, ngayon po nasa 8% na lang dahil po ito sa ating patuloy na pakikipagtulungan sa iba't-ibang sektor na katuwang natin sa pagrerehistro," said Umali.

The annual event convenes barangay officials, court secretaries and personnel from hospitals, health offices, schools, churches, funeral parlors and cemeteries to refresh them with the new processes, policies and important laws on civil registration.

During the program, Umali also presented the state of civil registration in the city for the year 2016 that has visibly increased compared to the previous years.

From 6,728 in 2015, the number of birth registration doubled to 12, 403 in 2016. The City Civil Registry Office has also recorded a total of 1,275 marriage and 3, 516 death last year.

In his speech, Mayor Edwin "EdSa" Santiago lauded the CCRO for their efforts in ensuring that all Fernandinos are legally registered. He also stressed the importance of getting registered on time to avoid inconvenience in case the civil certificates are needed.

"Aside from helping the government establish the occurrence of birth, death and marriage, civil registration also gives you the access to exercise your rights to study, vote, drive, marry and entitlement, among others," Santiago said.

CCRO is also conducting a Mobile Civil Registration Outreach Program in different schools and barangays in the city to help unregistered students and residents with the requirements for the issuance of their certificates.
