CSF Promotes Healthy Foods Through A Cooking Festival [ Friday, 14th of July 2017 | 1 week ago ]

In line with the celebration of Nutrition Month, the City Government of San Fernando, through its City Agriculture and Veterinary Office, hosted "Kamote and Tilapia Cooking Festival" on July 12.

Officials and residents from ten barangays in the city who are considered as nutritionally depressed barangay participated in the said activity.

Each team showcased their skills in cooking main dishes, side dishes and desserts by using kamote and tilapia as the main ingredients.

City Agriculturist Cristina Sangumay said the activity seeks to promote awareness and encourage everyone especially the mothers of the malnourished children to cook and prepare nutritious yet affordable meals.

Sangumay said.

Sangumay also stressed that kamote and tilapia are rich in vitamins(what vitamins?) that are very beneficial to one's health.

Sangumay added.

In an interview, Mayor Edwin "Edsa" Santiago said having a good nutrition is the key of having a healthy lifestyle. He encouraged the Fernandinos to eat nutritious food because he believes that prosperity comes to a community with a healthy citizenry.

Santiago said.

Meanwhile, Brgy.Bulaon was hailed as 1st place in the cooking festival followed by Brgy Del Carmen (2nd place) and Brgy. San Pedro (3rd place). The winners received cash prizes and certificates of participation.
