CSF Joins Nutrition Month Celebration [ Wednesday, 5th of July 2017 | 3 weeks ago ]


Local Officials in the City of San Fernando led the launching of Nutrition Month 2017 themed "Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit for Life" during Monday's flag raising ceremony at the City Hall.

The Calendar of Activities for the 43rd celebration was unveiled by Mayor Edwin "Edsa" Santiago, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Councilor BJ Lagman, City Health Officer Dr. Eloisa Aquino and other department heads.

Aquino said the whole month of July will be filled with fun yet beneficial activities that aim to promote the health and wellness of every Fernandino.

On July 5, there will be a launching of Technical Briefing of Edible Landscaping and Container Farming. This will be followed by a Deworming Interactive Lecture on July 7.

The launching of "First 1000 Days program" and Dietary Supplementation program will be on July 10.

There will be a "Basura mo, Kalusugan ko" program on July 11; Camote and Tilapia Festival on July 12; Kiddie Nutritionist (Training on Calorie Counting) from July 12 to 14; and launching of Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2017-2022 on July 17.

Fernandinos are also invited to join the Inter-Barangay Zumbaers Biggest Loser Challenge on July 24 to be followed by Cassavalicious Cooking Contest and Senior Citizens Nutrition Advocates both happening on July 25.

The youth may also showcase their wits and skills through a Nutri-quiz and Poster Making Contest on the 26th.

On July 28, the CHO will conduct an Orientation and Awarding of Inputs on Edible Landscaping and Container Farming; and Best Hataw Fitness Program Exercise.

Lastly, the city will once again gather all breastfeeding advocates for the CSFP Big Latch On from August 4 to 5.

In his speech, Mayor Edwin "EdSa" encouraged Fernandinos to support the lined up activities and stressed that all these efforts are aimed at engaging the community to achieve a better life.

"Here in San Fernando, we believe that prosperity comes to a community with a healthy citizenry," Santiago added.
