CSF Commemorates Araw Ng Kagitingan [ Monday, 10th of April 2017 | 3 months ago ]

In a brief yet solemn ceremony, the city government here joined the entire nation in commemorating the 75th National Day of Valor or Araw ng Kagitingan on Monday, April 10, at the Old Train Station in Barangay Sto. Niño.

The celebration held in lieu of the April 9 actual date of observance of Araw ng Kagitingan also coincided with the commemoration of the infamous Bataan Death March's 75th Anniversary.

To honor the nobility and bravery of our heroes, City of San Fernando Mayor Edwin D. Santiago along with Vice Mayor Jimmy T. Lazatin led a wreath-laying in the Death March Marker followed by the flag raising ceremony which was attended by City Hall Employees.

Santiago reiterated in his message the importance of the gathering giving honor and pride to our fallen heroes.

The mayor also added that Araw ng Kagitingan symbolizes the inspiration that should be understood by the present generation and our future generation.

He said that "heroes and martyrs should serve as an inspiration especially for the youth, for them to understand what they can contribute for the continued development of the Filipinos and our country."

WALL OF VALOR. Mayor Edwin D. Santiago, along with Vice Mayor Jimmy T. Lazatin, and Councilor BJ Lagman, unveils the Wall of Valor dedicated to the fallen heroes of Bataan Death March during the City of San Fernando's commemoration program for the 75th National Day of Valor or Araw ng Kagitingan on Monday, April 10, at the Old Train Station in Barangay Sto. Niño.
