SPES Assists Hundreds Of Poor Students [ Monday, 3rd of April 2017 | 3 months ago ]
480 of them will be deployed in different offices and departments in the city hall and shall render service for 22 days.
While the other 25 students will be working in private companies including the City of San Fernando Water District, Laus Group of Companies, Pampanga's Best and CGS Solid Aircon & Refrigeration Inc.
PESO Manager Donny Sayre said the salary for students deployed in the local government offices has been increased this year following the amended SPES loan of Republic Act 10917.
From P349 last year, students will now earn P430 per day that is equivalent to P9, 460 total salary.
"Malaking bagay po ito dahil mas malaki ang maiipon ng mga kabataan na makakatulong sa kanilang pag-aaral," Sayre said.
Meanwhile, those employed by private companies will receive a P364 minimum wage but will work for a longer period not exceeding 52 days.
In an interview, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa' Santiago said that the city government fully supports this program to help students pursue their education which is also his administration's top priority.
"Aside from helping the students finish their studies; this program also prepares them for the real world by engaging them with work experiences," Santiago added.
