Barangays Compete In CSF Fire Olympics [ Friday, 17th of March 2017 | 9 months ago ]

Six barangays in the City of San Fernando on Friday tested their fire response skills during the 3rd Fire Olympics (Barangay Category) held at the Heroes Hall grounds.

Hosted by the Bureau of Fire Protection, the competition was participated in by Barangays Del Rosario, Maimpis, San Isidro, San Pedro, Sta. Lucia and Sto. Nino. Each barangay fire brigade team is composed of fifteen members and must be headed by a local official.

City Fire Marshal Chief Inspector Myra Feliciano said the events contested this year include Hose Laying and Replacement of Busted Hose, Bucket Relay, and Flammable Liquid Fire Extinguishment.

For his part, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa' Santiago said the annual activity seeks to raise the level of preparedness of front liners and citizens in fire suppression and safety response.

"We want to equip them with updated knowledge on fire prevention so that they know how to properly respond in case a fire hits their area, thus reduce its impact and avoid casualties," Santiago added.

Meanwhile, Barangay Sto. Nino bagged first place while Barangays San Pedro and Sta. Lucia ranked second and third place, respectively.

Special awards like Best in Uniform, Most Disciplined Team and Best Muse were also given.
