CSF Observes Rabies Awareness Month [ Monday, 6th of March 2017 | 9 months ago ]

In line with the observance of Rabies Awareness Month, the City Government of San Fernando on Saturday conducted pet consultation and free anti-rabies vaccination in Barangay San Felipe.

The activity was realized through the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office in partnership with the A.B. Communication students from the University of the Assumption.

During the program, City Veterinarian Dr. Ryan Paul Manlapaz stressed the importance of responsible pet ownership in rabies prevention.

"We encourage our Fernandinos to have their pets checked regularly as the city offers various treatments such as vaccination against rabies and deworming medication," he added.

Manlapaz also said that it is the responsibility of the owners to provide pets with food, shelter and care; thus, contribute to the local government's stray animal control practice.

In an interview, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa' Santiago said the city will continue to raise public awareness and provide services on the prevention of both human and animal rabies.

"We want to attain a rabies free city in support to the Department of Health's thrust towards a rabies free Philippines by 2020," Santiago added.
