CSF Launches Kaganapan 2017 [ Tuesday, 31st of January 2017 | 4 months ago ]
Themed "King KAGANAPAN na ning taguimpan, king balang takbang agnan-agnan", this year's celebration, according to Mayor Santiago, will highlight activities that will tell the transformation of the then Municipality of San Fernando into the Regional Center of North Luzon today.
"The development that we enjoy today is a product of the collective effort of the government and the private sector. Whatever we have today, we owe it to the people" said Mayor Santiago during a press conference held at the City Hall.
On February 1, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office will lead a citywide clean-up day. This will be participated in by City Hall employees and representatives from other government agencies.
A Bloodletting Activity will be organized by the City Health Office at the City Hall on February 2.
Highlighting the Kaganapan 2017 celebration is the City FAIR (Food, Arts, Industry, and Recreations) that will be held from February 3-5 at the City Train Station. Among these events include Opening of Trade Fair and Art Exhibit Selling; PHS Drum and Lyre performance; FREE Kalesa Tours; Basic Art Workshop by Mr. Noel Catacutan; SineCabalen-Showing of Kapampangan Indie Films; Kapampangan Cultural Night ft. Dos Palikeros and Ara Muna; live band concert; and colorful display of fireworks.
Hundreds of Fernandino cyclists are also expected to participate during a Cycling Caravan on February 4.
On the same day, a Thanksgiving Mass shall also be celebrated at the Metropolitan Cathedral. This will be followed by the Kaganapan City Job Fair in SM San Fernando Downtown.
Pet lovers from the city and nearby places will gather during the Pet Mo Show Mo event at the San Fernando Train Station on February 5.
The Annual Palarong Empleyado of the City Government will kick-off today February 6. Four teams are competing this year in the following events: Basketball, Volleyball Men, Badminton, Bowling, among others.
The City College of San Fernando, in partnership with the Association of Local Colleges and Universities, will hold a conference on Teaching Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development in the 21st Century this February 9.
The city will also sponsor the marriage of 100 couples during the Kasalan Balen on February 11.
As a pre-valentine gift to female city hall employees, a Harana Para sa Kababaihan event shall be held at the Heroes Hall (February 13).
An acrobatic show that will be performed by the Philippine-China Traditional Cultural group will cap the Kaganapan 2017.
San Fernando officially became a component city on February 4, making it the 99th city in the Philippines.
