CSFP Clean Up Targets Brgy. Roads, Water Ways [ Tuesday, 11th of February 2014 | 4 years ago ]

Boasting its vision to become a livable city, San Fernando, on its 13th anniversary as a city, included in the roster of activities a citywide clean up drive. More than cleaning the surroundings, the activity envisions educating the public the importance of a clean environment. Acting Mayor Jimmy Lazatin and KAGANAPAN co-chairperson Gil Pamandanan led the event. In his speech, he encouraged the participants to actively join in the endeavor. He praised Mayor Edwin Santiago’s effort in including in his governance agenda the protection of the environment.

He furthered by saying “there are loads we can do to keep our environment clean like reducing, reusing, recycling, planting more trees, warning people who take cigarettes that it is dangerous for them as well as the environment and using eco-friendly items.”

Different sectors within the city participated in the activity. Barangay roads and water ways were among the places given attention during the clean up drive.

The use of technology and industries increases the amount of pollution in the environment. In line with his agenda, Mayor Edwin Santiago said that “keeping our environment clean is a very important part of our lives and of the society. It should be an inevitable venture for us to make sure that the environment is preserved for our children." Water pollution and garbage are considered to be two of the main cause of the environment’s devastation.
