800 Jobs Open In CSF Year-End Job Fair [ Saturday, 19th of November 2016 | 1 year ago ]

A total of 882 job positions were opened to Fernandinos and applicants from neighboring towns during the Year-End Job Fair hosted by the City Government of San Fernando over the weekend at Waltermart.

With 16 participating companies, 682 unfilled local jobs and 200 positions for overseas employment were offered to jobseekers.

Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Donny Sayre said this already serves as the fourth and last job fair of the city for the year 2016.

"Very timely po ito lalo na magpapasko, gusto natin na magkaroon ng trabaho at kabuhayan ang ating mga kababayan," Sayre added.

City Employment and Services Division reported that 104 of the applicants were Hired-on-the-Spot that is equivalent to a 31.23% rate.

Meanwhile, the registration for the city's JobStart program was also held simultaneously. Qualified registrants will undergo free life skills training for 10 days and proceed to job matching.

The Jobstart program has been a long project of the City Government of San Fernando, DOLE, Asian Development Bank and the government of Canada to help young Filipinos in honing their skills in order to find work and lessen the rate of unemployment in the country.

In his speech, Mayor Edwin "EdSa" Santiago reiterated his administration's serious efforts in providing Fernandinos not only employment opportunities but also the essential skills.

"Apart from seeking partnership with various companies to boost employment, the city also aims to help the applicants match with the right employers," Santiago said.
