CSF Hires Disadvantaged Workers [ Tuesday, 13th of September 2016 | 8 months ago ]


More than 300 Fernandinos were employed by the City Government under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Ating Disadvantaged (TUPAD) Workers Program in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment and Provincial Government.

"Sila po yung mga naapektuhan ng Habagat, habang wala pa silang hanap-buhay, makakatulong natin sila sa pananatili ng kalinisan ng Siyudad sa loob ng sampong araw" said Mayor Edwin D. Santiago.

TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed, and employed poor, for a minimum period of 10 days.

"They will earn more than three thousand pesos during their employment" said Public Employment Service Officer Donny Sayre explaining that TUPAD beneficiaries are provided with employability enhancement training to prepare them for another round of employment after the completion of the emergency employment.

TUPAD also provides social protection measures.

With this program, the city was able to assist displaced workers return to normal life and recover from the brunt of calamity by giving them short-term income support. At the same time, it also enlist the beneficiaries for the rehabilitation, clearing and cleaning of their affected communities.
