CSF Job Fair Opens 700 Job Opportunities [ Thursday, 12th of May 2016 | 1 year ago ]
Some 350 applicants from in and out of the city have flocked in the job fair held May 1 at the SM City San Fernando Downtown.
In an interview, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago said the city, through its Public Employment Service Office, annually conducts various job fairs to open up careers to unemployed, fresh graduates, skilled and unskilled workers, vocational graduates and the like.
“This is our way of reducing the unemployment rate and increasing the number of employment which are priority programs in this city,” Santiago said.
The city mayor also furthered that the emergence of business industries in San Fernando boosted employment opportunities not only for Fernandinos but job hunters from other towns as well.
“We, in the local government, see to it that the more companies are, the more jobs they also create,” he added.
Meanwhile, PESO reported that 71 applicants were hired on the spot that is equivalent to 20.52% of the total number of job seekers.
This year’s 114th Labor Day was celebrated with the theme “Kinabukasan Sigurado sa Disenteng Trabaho.”
