CSF Named ‘2016 Tanging Bayani Ng Kalikasan’ [ Friday, 15th of April 2016 | 2 years ago ]

The City Government of San Fernando was named ‘2016 Tanging Bayani ng Kalikasan’ by the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Human Resources Management Foundation Incorporated for its outstanding achievement in the area of clean air act and climate change.

San Fernando is one of the four awardees, under the Local Government category, of the first Bayani ng Kalikasan Awards held April 13 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel in Pasay City. Other recipients are Quezon City and the provinces of Cavite and Rizal.

PMAP President Jessie Rebustillo said their organization seeks to recognize individuals, corporations and institutions whose efforts have significantly contributed to climate change mitigation.

“The PMAP, with 1,500 corporate members and 25 chapters nationwide, is the only association that promotes professional people management practices at the workplace and corporate social responsibility in the communities where member companies are located.”

“This is the highest achievement award in the field of environmental management given by our institution” he added.

Through the initiative of San Fernando’s Environment and Natural Resources Office, the city has fully implemented various ordinances aimed at protecting and preserving the environment.

The city has also gained numerous recognitions for having committed to the implementation of RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management and enjoining all 35 barangays to contribute in solving garbage problems.

In his message, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago expressed his profound gratitude to the members of PMAP for recognizing the efforts of the city towards a sustainable, greener community.

“This award inspires us to strive even better in the pursuit to preserve mother earth,” Santiago added.
