CSF Launches Oplan Goodbye Bulate [ Monday, 11th of April 2016 | 2 years ago ]

The City Government of San Fernando, Pampanga and the Department of Health Region 3 (DOH R3) conducted a simultaneous school deworming on Wednesday, January 21, as part of the program dubbed as

This program covered children who are studying from Kinder to Grade 6 in all elementary public schools of the city to prevent the detrimental effects of soil-transmitted helminthiasis.

In San Agustin Integrated School, Mayor Edwin D. Santiago, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Councilor Ayzel Macalino, and other officials led the administration of the deworming medicine to children aged 5 to 12 years.

City Health Officer Dra. Eloisa Aquino reminded the public that children can get infected as their bare hands touch the soil while playing or holding something that dropped on the soil and other scenarios.

She explained that deworming of children is a good strategy to reduce the burden of infections because such will create a positive impact on children’s education and health wherein the children will become more active in their studies and school performance.

Mayor Santiago for his part said that the success of this program relies heavily not only with the government but more importantly on the support of the children’s parents and relatives.

He also underscored that the city’s health programs are available and accessible to all. “Palagi pong bukas ang ating mga Rural Health Units at Barangay Health Stations kung saan libre po ang konsulta at ilang mga gamot.”
