Feeding Program Benefits CSF ‘poblacion’ [ Tuesday, 2nd of July 2013 | 4 years ago ]
“Ang kahirapan ay hindi mawawala pero kaya natin itong labanan. Ang gusto ko, treinta porsyento ng ating budget ay mapupunta sa mga serbisyong kagaya nito,” Mayor Santiago said.
The supplemental feeding aims to provide food in addition to regular meals. This is also considered as an immediate intervention to address malnutrition among target beneficiaries who were pre-determined, examined and de-wormed prior to the first day of feeding.
Aside from focusing on food security, he also expressed his plan of revitalizing the old public market area.
“Pasisiglahin natin muli ang palengke. Tayo ay nagpa-planong maglagay ng mga pick-and-drop areas, magpatayo ng mga parking areas at gawing mas kaaya-aya ang ating poblacion na aking kinalakhan,” Santiago said.
The half-day event also marked the opening of Nutri-Negosyo stores and the Iodized Salt stores which will primarily benefit the preschoolers of barangay Sto. Rosario.
According to Dr. Eloisa Aquino, City Health Officer, the ongoing programs are part of the Nutrition Month activities of the City anchored on the theme “Gutom at Malnutrisyon, Sama-sama Nating Wakasan.”
Also present during the program were barangay captain Jesus Liang of Sto. Rosario and Clarita Magtoto of the Inocencio Magtoto Memorial Foundation. ---CSF-CIO
Among the ten barangays identified by the City Health Office of the City of San Fernando, Mayor Edwin Santiago chose Barangay Sto. Rosario or the ‘poblacion’ as the first beneficiary of the 120-day Supplemental Feeding Program for selected malnourished children.
