CSF All Set For Undas 2015 [ Saturday, 31st of October 2015 | 2 years ago ]

The City Government of San Fernando is all set for the observance of Undas or the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days on November 1 and 2, respectively.

Mayor Edwin D. Santiago said some departments of the local government have been given separate tasks to provide security and convenience to those who will visit departed loved ones in cemeteries and prevent any untoward incident or accident from taking place.

“Every year, we always prepare for this day. We will do our best to make sure nothing untoward happens during this day,” Santiago said.

The mayor also warned that liquor ban in cemeteries will be strictly enforced and that the possession of deadly weapons will be penalized.

The city will ensure these primary functions: round-the-clock security, medical service and traffic assistance. There will be helpdesks and first-aid tents ready to provide information and medical assistance to the public in the city’s more than 10 cemeteries.

Aside from members of the City of San Fernando Police, all personnel from the Traffic Management Division [TMD], San Fernando Rescue Unit [SAFRU], City Marshals Unit, and some volunteers will be deployed to ensure peace and order within the vicinities of cemeteries and provide assistance to any assistance to visitors.

TMD chief Renato Pineda advised the public about the traffic rerouting scheme on November 1. “Magiging one-way ang portion ng Mc Arthur Highway Intersection (Dolores) patungong Jose B. Lingad Hospital at kabayanan, tanging mga light vehicles lang ang makakadaan dito. Kung magmumula ka naman ng City Hall, maaring gamitin ang St. Dominic Corinthian road palabas ng Jose Abad Santos Avenue.”

He noted that the city will limit vehicles passing along General Hizon avenue in Barangay Sto. Rosario. “Pwede nilang gamitin ang mga barangay roads gaya ng sa Del Pilar. Marami tayong ilalagay na directional signs para hindi malito ang mga byahero.”

A clearing and road maintenance operation shall be conducted starting October 31 on entrances and exits in order to avoid traffic.

Likewise, a Motorist Assistance Centers along major thoroughfares including JASA will be manned by city personnel.
