CSFP’s Barangay Pandaras Is Dengue-free [ Thursday, 29th of October 2015 | 2 years ago ]

Barangay Pandaras in the City of San Fernando has been declared dengue-free.

This after it was found to have a zero case of the disease among the six barangays

covered by Rural Health Unit III (RHU-3).

The citation, given during the Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue held last October 21

at the Sta. Lucia Covered Court, was received by Pandaras Barangay Captain Edsel

Miranda.

The meet, also dubbed Anti-Dengue Campaign and Barangay Dengue Summit

2015, was attended by residents representing Barangays Sta. Lucia, Pandaras, Del

Pilar, San Nicolas, San Felipe and San Pedro.

Its aim is to increase awareness on the dengue situation, strengthen surveillance

capability of the barangays, and remove possible and existing mosquito breeding

sites.

The City Government of San Fernando, through its City Health Office (CHO),

distributed to each barangay sacks of KitiKiti X, a powder-based solution that kills

mosquito larvae when directly applied to stagnant water.

During the meet, city officials and officers signed a covenant as a gesture of their

commitment to help combat dengue, a mosquito-borne disease that has become

highly prevalent not only in the province but also in most parts of the country.

Signatories of the pact were City Councilors Angie Hizon and Nelson Lingat;

Barangay Captains Herman Quiwa, Rosemary Calimlim, Jerry Canlas and

EdselMiranda; City Health Officer Dr. Eloisa Aquino and RHU-3 Physician Dr. Elma

Manarang.

In her remarks, Aquino stressed the importance of unity and diligence in fighting

dengue within the grassroots.

The CHO will also conduct the drive in the rest of San Fernando’s 35 barangays

before the end of this year.
