Health Caravan Launched In CSFP [ Thursday, 1st of October 2015 | 2 years ago ]

The High Impact 5 (HI-5) Caravan of the Department of Health (DOH) was launched in the region together with the City Government of San Fernando through its City Health Office on September 30 at SM Pampanga.

The HI-5 Caravan seeks to intensify the DOH’s five health programs namely, Human Immuno-deficiency Virus/Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome, Service Delivery Network, Maternal Care, Infant Care and Child Care.

The department’s aim is to reduce maternal and infant mortality as well as cases of HIV/AIDS while strengthening its service delivery networks.

City Health Officer Dr. Eloisa Aquino explained that the caravan is conducted in cooperation with local government units(LGUs) across the country. First to be covered in Pampanga is the third district to which San Fernando belongs.

According to Dr. Amelito S. Nicolas of the regional health office, this partnership will result to a better change in society and will have a huge impact on the health of every Filipino.

Meanwhile, City Mayor Edwin D. Santiago said that having stronger links with the DOH will result to a healthier community.

“The health and welfare of every Fernandino is important for it reflects our people’s productivity that is in turn crucial in attaining a progressive city,” he explained.

With HI-5, the country will be nearer to the World Health Organization’s Millennium Development Goals, to which every nation has committed to combat poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women.
