Art Contest Highlights ‘disaster Consciousness’ [ Tuesday, 7th of July 2015 | 2 years ago ]
Dubbed as “Sining Kahandaan 2015”, the inter-school competition is in lined with the city’s observance of National Disaster Consciousness this month. 33 participants coming from public and private schools in the city vied for honours under the theme “Pamilya at Pamahalaang Handa, Katuwang sa Pag-unlad ng Bansa.”
For elementary division, winners are Astrid Raela Concepcion of Sindalan Elementary School (first place), Marc Manarang of Lyndale Academy (second place), and Eunice Serrano of Achiever’s Special Education Center (third place). Topnotchers in junior division are Angelica Sebastian of Sindalan High school (first place), Jena Miranda of Lyndale Academy (second place), and Christian Canlas of ICT High school (third place).
“This will promote awareness on natural hazards especially with students and the academe sector” said Mayor Edwin D. Santiago adding that this [competition] shall inform the Fernandino families on the right actions to be taken during emergencies.
The month of July is declared as the National Disaster Consciousness Month by virtue of Executive Order No. 137 on August 10, 1999, to focus on raising public awareness of, and establishing safe and resilient communities against disasters.
