CSF Activates Emergency Operation Center [ Monday, 6th of July 2015 | 2 years ago ]

The City Government of San Fernando, Pampanga has activated its emergency operation center in preparation for the possible effects of Tropical Storm Egay which made landfall over Isabela last Saturday.

“As early as Tuesday last week, the city’s disaster council has convened its members to monitor the situation and undertake precautionary measure,” Mary Luanne David, Administrative Officer of City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

The council is composed of five committees including alert and monitoring, response coordination, operational coordination, information management, and resource mobilization.

“Once na may advisory na ang national [DILG], we are activating our emergency operation center dito sa Heroes Hall para mas madali ang mobilization ng ating mga manpower” added David.

During emergencies, the LGU through its CDRRMO assemble human resources from its departments and attached agencies like the Philippine National Police and Bureau of Fire and Protection, civic organizations like the Philippine National Red Cross, barangay personnel, volunteers, among others to assist in calamity response operations.

Although, not affected by Tropical Storm Egay, David said that the city has made necessary preparations for natural hazard such as typhoons; in fact, equipments for rescue operations and relief goods were procured and presently prepositioned to strategic areas.

According to NDRMMC advisory, Egay has remained almost stationary over Luzon Sea and expected to exit Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday morning (July 9).
