Mayor EdSa Awards Capital Assistance To Self-employed Fernandinos [ Wednesday, 24th of June 2015 | 2 years ago ]

Some 23 self-employed Fernandinos received a total of 140,000 pesos capital assistance from the City Social Welfare and Development Office under the sustainable livelihood program of Mayor Edwin D. Santiago.

These beneficiaries are organized through Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) Program, a capability building program of the LGU which aims to enhance the socio-economic skills of poor families through the organization of community-based associations for entrepreneurial development.

With this, some ten suman makers, eleven carinderia owners, a carpenter and a manicurist from Barangay San Pedro, Cutud received five thousand pesos each as financial assistance.

In an interview, Mayor Santiago said that employment is the city’s top priority program under his 12 point development agenda dubbed as “Sapat na Pangkabuhayan sa mga Fernandino Tungo sa Maunlad na Pamumuhay.”

“Ginagawa natin ito para maging ‘inclusive’ ang kaunlaran dito sa San Fernando, dapat lahat ng mamamayan ay may disenteng hanap buhay.”

This effort, added Mayor Santiago, aims to further assist underprivileged families in uplifting their well-being for them to reach self-sufficiency.

Before receiving the assistance, the beneficiaries underwent series of social preparation seminars on self-enhancement, volunteerism, leadership skills to build capabilities and confidence towards self-reliance.
